Art Book Swap Los Angeles at LACMA

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and Regency Arts Press Ltd. held their first Art Book Swap Los Angeles at LACMA on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. 125 people swapped almost 550 books at this very successful and busy event.

Art Book Swap Los Angeles created a hive of activity that attracted people and their books from all areas of this sprawling city, thus mingling together and reinvigorating private libraries that exist all over Los Angeles' wide and varied landscape.

All books that remained at the end of the swap were donated to the Bunche Center Prison Outreach Program, a non-profit organization run by the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African-American Studies at UCLA. Bunche provides books and other reading materials to prisoners housed in the nation's penal institutions, where they are so sorely needed. Bunche kept the books donated from Art Book Swap Los Angeles in city prisons, reinforcing the cycle of rejuvenation and reuse complete and contained within Los Angeles.
